Just listen to the glorious sound of this 2.5 5 cylinder. Just try to ignore the music half way though the video.

It seriously sounds like an R8 V10 at times....

This sounds amazingly dubbed and not what the engine actually sounds like. I have NEVER heard one of the 2.5s sound like that. In fact, one guy I know did similar mods to his jetta and it sounded like so much ass, he traded the car in for something new. It's not a terrible engine, but there are so many reasons why it's going away.

I'd say more like a Gallardo V10.

With just a tune, the 1.8TSI can make the same amount of power as a stock MKVII GTi
The 2.5L (as much as I love it, there's one in my mom's jetta) just can't do that!

That is true that it GTi power can be reached on the 1.8TSI with just a tune. It's a bit more expensive on the 2.5L. I've seen people hit stock MkVI and MkVII GTi power levels with the United Motors short runner intake (SRI) and a tune, but for $1700.

yup, and the 1.8's tune is just a measly $499!

probably because they are slow as balls and way under powered. One of my friends has a 2010 jetta SEL with the 2.5. Its rated at what, 170hp? We have 4cyls making more than that.
If I'm going for the signature inline 5 sound I'll divert my attention to a S60R
